Introduction:

BCCI has announced the 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup and just according to our expectations, Shivam Dube is on the list. Since 2022, Shivam Dube has changed his playing style & has worked a lot on his skills as well. Whpc has helped him to uplift himself from an average batter to an extraordinary batter. He has uplifted himself in a way that he can be an “X” factor for Team India as well. Do you know why we are saying this? Well, then you have to read this blog. Shivam Dube is one of the important players of CSK. He plays in the middle order & he has the capability of changing the fate of the game. He is the biggest six-hitter in the IPL since 2023. He is amongst the best players of spin in the country. He has scored 350 runs in nine matches with an average of 58.33 and a strike rate of 172.41 and could be India’s main enforcer with the bat.

However, reaching this point was not easy for him. As we said in the beginning, he has worked on himself a lot. Through his handwork, he has dramatically transformed his career as well.

Dube was just 25 when he entered into the IPL and he struggled for 3 seasons with his bat. He could muster 169 runs in 13 innings at an average of 16.9 and a strike rate of 122.5 for the Challengers in 2019 and 2020. A move to the Royals in 2021 did not have a dramatic change in his fortunes, though he increased his aggregate to 230 in the season, Dube’s scoring rate of 119.2 left a lot to be desired.

Overall, between 2019 and 2021, Dube had an aggregate of just 399 runs in 22 innings at an average of 22.17 and a strike rate of 120.5. During this period he had just one innings which can be called great or can be praised enough & that was an unbeaten 64 off 42 deliveries against the Chennai Super Kings in Abu Dhabi.

However, his luck started favoring him when he met MS Dhoni. Back in 2022 he moved to CSK and got the much-needed guidance from MS Dhoni. He delivered in his second match of the season smashing 49 off 30 deliveries from number 4 against the Super Giants. That followed a 30-ball 57 against the Punjab Kings before he produced the innings that firmly announced the arrival of Shivam Dube on the big stage – an undefeated 95 off just 46 deliveries in the mother of all battles against the Challengers – the hallmark of his innings being the 8 sixes. Dube scored 289 runs in the season at a strike rate of 156.2. However, this was the beginning of the show. His real show started in 2023.

In 2023, he delivered 5 high-voltage performances for CSK. Additionally, he played a crucial role for CSK to bag their 5th title as well. His best performance was against Kolkata Knight Riders at their home ground Eden Gardens. In this match, he smashed a 21-ball 50 – again, the five sixes being the highlight of his eye-catching performance. Dube held his nerve in the final against the Titans remaining unbeaten on 32 as Ravindra Jadeja smashed a six and a four off the last two deliveries to seal a stunning win for the Super Kings.

In the 2023 season, Dube scored 418 runs in 14 innings at a strike rate of 158.3. Only Faf du Plessis (36) hit more sixes than Dube’s 35 in the tournament. From every 11.6 deliveries in 2022, Dube further improved his frequency of clearing the ropes and smacked one six every 7.5 deliveries in 2023.

2022 was the stepping stone, 2023 was the second step & this 2024, he is climbing the stairs, every day. In this season, he has already 5 impactful performances for CSK. He has scored more than 35 at a strike rate of in excess of 170. Dube has already piled on a total of 350 runs at an average of 58.3 and a strike rate of 172.4 in the tournament. As a middle-order batter, he is highest till now. He has the fourth-highest strike rate for all batters who have scored a minimum of 100 runs from numbers 4 and 5 in the competition.

Here we need to mention that his biggest improvement till now is against the bowlers. His strike rate against pace has improved from 143 in 2023 to 172 this season. Meanwhile, he has continued his domination of spin and hammered the slower bowlers for 66 runs off just 38 deliveries at a strike rate of 174. In this 224 IPL season, he got down by a spinner only once and we believe that this type of talent is all Team India needs.

Final Words:

Shivam Dube has transformed himself from an average batter to an extraordinary one. Currently, he is everything Team India needs in the middle order. Well, this is a lesson from us as well that hard work can change the game. Stay connected with Cricfeverr.com to get all the cricket news, IPL news & sports news at the right time.
