Who won the toss?

RCB won the toss. However, after winning the toss Faf du Plessis decided to bowl first. We thought that this would help PBKS to post a high record in front of RCB. however, the lethal bowling of RCB didn’t let that happen.

Glenn Maxwell and Yash Dayal showed some speechless bowling skills in the match and boosted the confidence of the team. Yash Dayal and Mohammed Siraj also did extremely well. They were the stars for RCB with the ball. Dayal returned figures of 1/23 while Siraj returned 2/26. This deadly bowling and the poor line-up of PBKS helped RCB to restrict them to just 177/6 in 20 overs.

What RCB did:

The bowling department of the RCB played really well. Virat Kohli made one more record. Virat scored 77 in just 49 balls. He is the first Indian to do so.

Virat also bagged the Player of the Match title.

However, it was not Virat who saved RCB from the defeat. It was the veteran player Dinesh Karthik who saved RCB from one more defeat.

Dinesh Karthik stood till the end, scoring *28 runs, and took RCB to a win in their first home game.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their second match of the tournament. In the first match, Faf du Plessis-led RCB lost to Chennai Super Kings (CSK). So, this will be their chance to grab their first points and move up in the points table. As of now, RCB is at number 9 with a Net Run Rate (NRR) of -0.799.

Let’s focus on the PBKS:

For the Punjab, Kasigo Rabada & Harpreet Brar took two wickets each, while Harshal Patel and Sam Curran picked up one wicket each. Shikhar Dhawan’s 45 and Shashank’s strong finish provided Punjab bowlers with some runs to defend. Arshdeep also played great. However, veteran Karthik drills it back down the ground. Dinesh Karthik has hit 28 runs in 10 balls and taken RCB to victory in a way only he can.

We have to mention about Shashank Singh. Shashank Singh smashed 20 runs off the last over to push the Punjab Kings to touch the mark of 176/6.

Punjab Kings lost opener Jonny Bairstow early to Mohammed Siraj. While captain Shikhar Dhawan tried to get a move on, RCB did well to keep the batters in check and put pressure on PBKS in the first 10 overs. Dhawan was eventually dismissed for 44 off 37 while the dangerous Liam Livingstone fell for just 17 runs in 13 balls. Shashank then came in and made the difference in the last over.

Who won the Player of the Match?

Kohli won the Player of the Match title for his terrific 77. However, these things do not touch him anymore. Do you know why are we saying so? Cause he said so.

“I know my name is now attached to just promoting the game in different parts of the world when it comes to T20 cricket. I’ve still got it, I guess,” Kohli said.

“In T20, I’m opening, I try to give a blazing start. But when wickets start falling, you have to play the situation. The wicket wasn’t as flat as normal here. Couldn’t hit balls across the line. Disappointed not having finished it off but it was not bad having a bad start. If bowlers are hitting length, you have to create momentum, come down.” Kohli said in his interview.

He also added, “I don’t play for these Caps anymore. That’s the promise I can give here. I’ll keep turning up and keep trying my best,”.

Final words:

Well, undoubtedly this is a great performance by RCB. However, RCB batters did a very small amount of jobs in this winning. They need to contribute more. On the other hand, RCB bowlers are on fire. Stay connected with Cricfeverr.com to read more analyses like this.
