Introduction of 3rd consecutive loss for Mumbai Indians

The situation of Mumbai Indians is getting out of hand with every match. Yesterday, Mumbai Indians were scheduled to play against Rajasthan Royals, and they lost the match miserably. This is the 3rd consecutive loss for MI. Maybe for the first time in IPL history, MI is holding the 10th position on the point table which is the lowest. In spite of having the best talents and two cup-winning men in the team, MI has failed to bag a single win till now. Although the fault does not belong to the players. The decision to captaincy change has been proven a boomerang to MI. let’s have a look at the match details. Read the blog & keep following  Cricfeverr.com to get all the sports updates on time.

Where & when was the match?

The match venue was the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The match started at 7:30 PM.

It was the 14th match of the IPL 2024 season. Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals were scheduled to play against each other.

What happened in the toss?

Sanju Samson for the Rajasthan Royals won the toss and decided to bowl first. Although, Hardik also wished the same. However, the toss didn’t let him do so. So, Hardik decided to wrap the RR faster.

It is important to mention that the Wankhede Stadium has a tendency to favor the chasing teams. So, there was hope for MI. however, the top order of MI fell so miserably that there was no chance left for MI.

Let’s have a look at the match:

MI was supposed to bat first as MI has the batting line-up of the IPL format. So, we thought the score would be high and RR would face an issue in chasing that.

However, three experienced batters of MI got the victim of a golden duck in the match. Trent Boult took the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Naman Dhir, and Dewald Brevis at Golden Ducks.

Yes, it is a fact that these three classy batters got out on 0.

Trent Boult took 3 wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs. This storm wrote the fate of the match.

Let us mention that this duck of Rohit has gifted him an infamous record. The record of having the highest number of ducks in the IPL.

Now Rohit has 17 ducks in the IPL. Previously, this record belonged to Dinesh Karthik.

Pandya then gave MI a boost by smashing 16 runs off the last over of the powerplay and the five-time champions were 46/4 at the end of the sixth over. Pandya and Tilak put up 56 runs off 36 balls for the fifth wicket before the MI captain fell for 34 off 21 to Yuzvendra Chahal.

Yesterday, Chahal also played very well. After Pandya, Chahal dismissed Varma shortly thereafter for 34 off 21.

Chahal got his third wicket in the death overs in the form of Gerald Coetzee. Tim David struggled to get going as well in the death overs, eventually falling for an uncharacteristically sluggish 17 off 24 balls.

For MI, Jasprit Bumrah and South African teenager Kwena Maphaka, coupled with an effective follow-up job by Aakash Madhwal, helped Mumbai Indians make a fairly good fist of defending a paltry target of 126.

On the other hand, for Rajasthan Royals, Riyan Parag scored a half-century for the second consecutive time this season and scored the winning runs to remain unbeaten on 54 off 39 balls. RR thus chased down the target with six wickets and 27 balls in hand.

What was the worst part of the match?

The worst part of the match was the reaction of the fans. Rohit Sharma has a high fanbase, and it is across the globe. The sudden change in the captaincy made them angry and agitated.

Fans kept showing their anger by “Booing” Pandya in every match.

Well, we had an idea that this match was going to be extreme because the match was placed in the home ground of MI & Rohit.

According to our expectations, it took an ugly shape. As the Wankhede Stadium is the home ground of MI, fans got really angry with Hardik. They kept “Booing” on him.

Sanjay Manjrekar was so upset that during the toss, he asked the fans to “behave”
