There is only one name now and that is Mayank Yadav. Many sports experts are saying that India has finally got their own Shoaib Akhter. Well, it is a fact that Team India always has had a talent pool and Team India is a giant in the whole cricket arena. However, it is also a fact that Team India always lacked a good bowler. Be it a fast, spin or pacer; Team India had a lack of good bowlers. Recently, Shami, Bumrah etc. have filled this void and now one more name has been added to the list.  Mayank Yadav is the name of the future. The IPL 2024 has helped in finding this gem. Let’s dive into the details. Read this blog & keep following Cricfeverr.com to get all the sports-related news at the right time.

Who is this Mayank Yadav?

Mayank Yadav is one of the pacers owned by LSG. Mayank Yadav was bought by LSG for Rs 20 lakh ahead of IPL 2022, however, he didn’t play a single game in the year 2022. He got repeated injuries which prevented LSG from launching him. Finally, finally, the wait was over, and he made his debut for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) against Punjab Kings on Saturday.

What did he do?

This 21-year-old Delhi-based pacer made his debut during the match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Lucknow on Saturday, Mayank maintained a speed of 155.8 kmph which left Shikhar Dhawan in a spot of bother.

What is the best part?

The best part is the bowling of Mayank reminds us of Shoaib Akhtar. Not the action or the batter’s reaction, but just the way the ball kept rising after it went past the stumps.

The 21-year-old eventually ended up taking three crucial wickets as Lucknow Super Giants registered their first win of IPL 2024. Yes, he took three wickets for 27 runs at a speed of 155 to 156 km/hr.

The name of the coach of this Delhi-based talent is Devender Sharma. After this bashing debut, Sharma informed the media that he was considered in the teat Team of India in the last Test series against England. Just like the other players, the chief selector Ajit Agarkar wanted to see Mayank bowl before selecting him. However, he missed the chance due to an injury.

Speaking to RevSportz, Devender stated, “He was very sad, nearly broken. Who would want to give away the chance to impress the chief selector and play for India? I pray to god that he keeps rising and stays fit. He is a very good and strongly built kid. He has an athletic body. He is very hard-working and has the ability to serve India for long. He has a good head and that is what is most important,”

Well, Mayank was also very eager to make his debut and informed his coach right after the debut as well.

Sharma recalled the phone, “Sir, aaj na mera debut ho gaya. (Sir, today I got my debut)”.

“He spoke as if nothing happened. He just wanted to listen wanted to listen to what I had to say,” Sharma shared to a famous news portal in his interview.

“He has always been a simple and humble guy,” Shama also added in his interview.

The background of Mayank and his story:

Mayank Yadav has come from a very humble background. His father runs a small time commodity shop in Delhi which helped them to meet the end only. His coach has shared that he didn’t have good shoes even when he got them. His coach has also shared how he got a hamstring injury due to his old shoes. Even after being with the Lucknow franchise for three seasons now and playing for Delhi, Yadav is still to land a shoe contract.

Life took a sudden favourable turn for the young bowler when during his Delhi debut at Mohali, Vijay Dahiya too happened to be there as Uttar Pradesh coach. “We were having joint net session. Suddenly, I noticed him in the adjacent nets and immediately called up Gautam Gambhir” Dhahiya shared in an interview. It is important to mention that Dhahiya & Gambhir both were connected to LSG at that time.

“We decided to invest in him. We were not going to play him in the first season because he wasn’t ready mentally and physically. He didn’t have miles in his legs since he didn’t play junior cricket at the state level. But he was an important investment for us. Nobody knew about him but we picked him at the auction,” Dahiya shared in that interview.

Do you guys know, what is teh best part? The best part is that Mayank has been on the radar of the Indian selectors and senior players since the Deodhar Trophy earlier this season. Senior skipper like KL Rahul has faith in him. He was called in to bowl to Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Rahul himself before the last Test series in South Africa.

We are surprised at how he fought against his luck. Yes, you heard it right. Mayank has fought against his luck. According to the LSG coach, he was malnourished and underfed when he came to LSG.

Even after the injury, LSG didn’t release him. They took the responsibility of Mayank and as the LSG has a great facility of treatment & medicine in Mumbai; they used those facilities for Mayank. Well, we must admit, the LSG management has helped Team India in getting a talent and we all are thankful for that.

About his real debut:

He made his actual debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2021. On his tournament debut, he bowled a maiden in the 49th over to help Delhi defend 12 off the last 12 balls against Haryana.

What’s Mayank has in his bag:

Sources have confirmed that Rishabh Pant and Sourav Ganguly wanted Mayank to join Delhi Capitals. He also added that Gujarat Titans Ashish Nehra was also interested in the pacer.

Final words:

There are many talents like Mayank in India, and we need to support them, just like LSG did. Best of luck Mayank. Keep following Cricfeverr.com to get all the sports-related news at the right time.
