Introduction:

Taking over the MI captaincy is one of the worst decisions Hardik has till now (in the professional field). From the beginning, he has failed to take control & nerve of the team and now facing the slap of a fine as well. Yesterday, Mumbai Indians were scheduled to play with Lucknow Super Giants. Lucknow Super Giants won the match by 4 wickets and Mumbai Indians got fined as well. Are you surprised that why did Mumbai Indians got fined? Let us inform you in this blog. Yesterday MI lost the match to LSG and also got to fine as well. Captain Hardik also got the slap of fine with his team. However, this is not new for Hardik at all.

Yesterday MI was fined for maintaining a slow over rate in the match. MI captain, Hardik, was fined for the 2nd time and this time it was double the amount. Earlier, during MI’s match against PBKS, Hardik was fined Rs 12 Lakh for slow over-rate. After LSG’s match, Hardik was penalized for breaching the IPL code of conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses.

“Mr Hardik Pandya, Captain, Mumbai Indians has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match 48 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on April 30, 2024,” an IPL statement read.

“As it was his team’s second offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses, Pandya was fined ₹24 Lakh. The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 6 Lac or 25 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser,” the statement added.

This is the 7th loss of MI in this tournament. Due to various reasons, taking over the MI’s captaincy has been proved highly wrong for Hardik. Hardik is also struggling with his own form as well. However, he is one of the best all-rounders in India & World, in this IPL across 10 appearances, he has managed to secure just six wickets, with an economy rate soaring to 11, further adding to MI’s woes.

With the bat, Hardik is yet to score a half-century, he has 197 runs to his name in the season in 10 innings at a strike rate of 150.38. Amid this off-form, he has bagged the chance of playing in the T20 World Cup for India. He has been named as the vice-captain of the squad.

Will the Mumbai Indians be able to play in the playoffs?

Well, let’s be honest there are more or less no chances for Mumbai Indians to play in the playoffs at all. They are in the ninth spot in the table with six points. While they are four points away from the fourth-placed CSK, the latter have played a match less.

Moreover, all four of MI’s remaining matches are against the teams well and truly in competition for top-4 spots, these include Kolkata Knight Riders (twice), Sunrisrs Hyderabad, and Lucknow Super Giants.

So, the result is easy to assume.

What is the point table scenario?

Mumbai Indians are in the 9th position in the point table with 6 points and an NRR (Net Run Rate) of -0.272. MI has played 10 matches, they have won only 3 while they have lost 7.

LSG or Lucknow Super Giants are holding the 3rd position in the point table. LSG has 12 points & an NRR of +0.094. They have played 10 matches, won 6 while have lost 4.
