Introduction:

It seems like Sunrisers Hyderabad aims to reach new heights of making runs. They are breaking their own records and making new ones. In yesterday’s match, SRH scored 287/3 in 20 overs and this broke their own record for the highest run. On the other hand, RCB continues its losing streak. It seems like they come to the ground to lose the matches only. RCB has won only 1 matches out of the 6 matches they have played. Well, it is quite disappointing that they can’t make a place even after having talents like Virat Kohli. Let’s focus on match details to understand the win more clearly. The overview of the match:

Yesterday, 15th April 2024, the IPL 2024 hosted their 30th match of the tournament. Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) locked horns in the match. The venue of the match was M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and the match started at 7:30 PM.

Who won the toss and what happened?

RCB won the toss and Faf du Plessis decided to bowl first.

What happened on the pitch?

RCB won the toss and captain Fat decided to do the fielding first. It was expected that the match would be a high-scoring one. However, no one expected that the RCB bowlers would surrender like this. SRH scored 287/3.

One Travis Head changed the whole game. His 108-run opening partnership came in just 49 balls as he scored a half-century inside the powerplay.

However, this powerplay came to an end when Abhishek Sharma fell to Reece Topley in the eighth over on 34 off 22. However, this even made no changes in the game for RCB. SRH continued their run-making. Klaasen smashed 67 in 31 balls. Abdul Samad then hit an unbeaten 37 in the 10 balls that he faced to take SRH past their own record score of 277.

On the other hand, RCB started the day very well. Virat Kohli smashed 42 in 20 balls while Faf du Plessis scored 62 in 28 & Dinesh Karthik scored 83 in 35 balls. However, the rest of the players did nothing. Even after all of this contribution, RCB reached only 262/7. It is just one run behind,  just one run behind their own highest-ever IPL total of 263/5 which they had scored against the Pune Warriors in 2013. Chris Gayle had scored an unbeaten 175 off 66 balls in that game and RCB had won it by 130 runs. This time, they lost by 25 runs.

Post-match reaction:

After this bashing win, obviously, Pat Cummins was in seventh heaven. In the post-match conversation, it reflected as well.

“Feel like I was I was a batter. Against Mumbai a few weeks ago I thought it won’t happen again, but it has happened again. Give me a few more years please (on if bowlers will go extinct)! It feels like you bowl an over for seven or eight feels great,” Cummins said in the post-match presentation ceremony. Cummins highlighted the joy and freedom with which their batters approach the game, expressing delight in their ability to play with smiles on their faces. Despite the unpredictability of pitch conditions, he noted the team’s adaptability and the positive atmosphere within the squad. “I’ve given up trying to read the pitches. Really happy with our cricket, four wins now, the freedom with which the batters are going out to play is great and few wily bowlers doing the job as well,” Cummins added.

Pat Cummins when asked about the possibility of bowlers becoming extinct in cricket, opted for a joke. He stated,  “Give me a few more years please,”

Point table scenario:

With this bashing win SRH again bagged the 4th position in the point table. They have played 6 matches till now and have won 4 and lost 2 out of them. SRH has 8 points and has an NRR (Net Run Rate) of +0.502.

On the other hand, RCB is in the bottom position in the point table. They have won only 1 match out of the 6 matches they have played. RCB have an NRR of -1.185 and they have only 2 points.
